No college life is complete without its own co-curricular activities. At Al-Azhar, we make sure to instill discipline, get the creativity flowing and help students learn basic life skills in addition to the curriculum.
Apart from the regular curriculum, the following co-curricular activities
add color to the program.
Co-Curricular Activities
Co-curricular activities help build confidence, discipline and managerial skills
For this reason, Al-Azhar gives utmost importance to all events that help showcase the skills of our students. While books help us with subject knowledge, only practical exposure will help build a great teacher. The co-curricular activities we have developed help students to make their college life less monotonous while ensuring that they improve on their valuable soft skills
Daily Assembly
Students assemble in the assembly hall and conduct assembly under a specific agenda which includes-Reading news headlines in two languages-English, Malayalam
Thought for the Day
This is being delivered in two languages everyday. Participation of each student in the assembly programmes is made compulsory as part of their teacher training and self development.
Clubs
Activities related to the subject and those intended to improve the personality aspects of students are being conducted through the following clubs.
- Literature club: English, Malayalam
- Science Club
- Social science club
- Mathematics club
- Quiz club
- Arts Club
Study Tour
A study tour is to be conducted for a minimum of 3 days. It is expected to improve the personality and knowledge of the students.
Sports Meet
The sportive talents of the trainees are identified and nurtured through the meet. The students are put under different houses to promote healthy competition among them. March past holding house flags and oath taking is followed by competitions in different events.
Community Living Camp
The highlight of this programme is that everything for the clamp is being planned and organized by the students themselves under the guidance of teachers. It is a 15 day in house programme. The students get a chance to plan and organize the following activities.
- Budgeting.
- Purchase.
- Cooking.
- Cleaning and sanitation activities.
- Social contact programmes.
- Teacher-pupil co-living camp.
- One day field trip.
- Camp fire.
Social contact programmers include short visits to old age homes, factory visits, community work etc. Students get a chance to improve their threshold of knowledge through the classes being handled by guest lecturers on art, work experience, yoga, and other essential skills of a teacher. The teacher-pupil co-living camp offers the trainees good opportunities to observe, understand the nature, manage, and teach young children.
Arts & Cultural Events
The arts festival brings out talents in each student and the winners represent the college at the D El Ed Kalolsavam in the district and state levels.
Student Adoption
A lecturer is in charge of a group of 8 students who will give individual attention to their needs. The performance of students in curricular and co curricular activities are being monitored, supported, and encouraged wherever needed.
